While we do agree entirely with Lewis Carroll, and invite you to make up your own minds about the books we write and publish, we do not really mind reading your reviews and your responses.
We promise not to be cross or conceited, either way.
We – alias Ambi Knowledge Resources Pvt. Ltd. – are a publishing house, set up by a motley crew of three architects (A.R. Ramanathan, Snehanshu Mukherji, Anisha Shekhar Mukherji), a flying attendant (Anjum Chhina) and a chartered accountant (Deepak Menon), supplemented with advice from an ex-Air Force Officer (Rana Chhina). We have a decided opinion on books, more optimism than money, and some experience in writing (literature, history, art, poetry, drama), editing, designing and printing .
That explains the kind of books we bring out as well as their frequency. We feel there is a need for unusual, inexpensive, well-produced and well-written books about the Indian Subcontinent and South Asia – and we pursue this, in a Carrollian way, if not with forks, then certainly with hope.
We see Ambi as a ‘niche player’ promoting the concept of writing and reading. Books related to our physical environment and built heritage, well-researched and well-designed, are what we would like to concentrate on. Specialists, occasional readers, book enthusiasts, and design aficionados, can look forward to our books and join us in praying that we do not ‘softly and suddenly vanish away.’
